6 Outfit designs

Mood Board: 

Overall moodboard theme: 

This is the mood board that I craeted for my fashion design series. My mood is overall more chill and I want them to be comfortable. My inspiration was the crayons in the middle of the Moodboard. From the crayons, it inspired me to add more colors into my designs, in this series, I chose light pastle colors such as mint green, pinkish, and blue/ purple tones.

Main elements: demin, laces, layering, pastle colors, oversized 

 

- Layering with different garments or different frabic is the main focus in this series of designs. Layering materials will be oversized to represent the chill vibes. 

- Pastle colors and some accessories are added to make the outfit stands out more. 

Design 1:

- Layering of frabic mixed with the pastle colors for the top. Frabic choices will most likely or similar to feathers. It will be in traingler shapes. Layering of triangles created different shapes and angle which makes the garments looks better visually. This is matched with white long pants with folded ends. Platform shoes are matched with this outfit.

Style/ way that feathers wanted to be layered on: 

Color Choice of frabic: pastle colors 

Design 2: 

- A black bralette/ crop top with light blue washed high waist shorts. Layered the outfit with an oversized camo jacket. This design will illustrate the idea of oversize garments and layering. 

- Black bralette/ crop is in lace patterns and soft materials. 

- Shorts: High wasited Light blue washed demin, Since the crop top is very short, the bottom will be high waisted to balance it out. 

--> Since demin and laces are the main frabics in this series of designs

Design 3: 

Texture: soft washed demin

- A washed demin jumpsuit. It is a singlet with white laced up for the top. The jumpsuit is oversized and the end it is loose and folded.  Jumpsuit gives people a feeling of causel, confortable and easy to style. This the also the mood of my series of designs, chill and comfortable. Since this jumpsuit is very simple with only 1 main tone of denim colors, I added some details on it, for the top part, it's a v-neck liked with white lace up, and the middle of the jumpsuit looks like it is opened up with the ''fold'' on top of it. Lastly, a belt is included to make the oversized jumpsuit more put together. 

Size and fitting: It will be fit size on top and loose at the bottom. 

 

Frabic material and style will be similar to the sample on left. 

Design 4: 

- Idea illustrated: Layering and oversize 

- This is a super oversized white bomber jacket being layered on a brown-greyish turtle neck swaeter. The are also 2 pockets facing each other on the sweater to make the design a bit more special. The shorts is more formal style. There are two layers, the bottom layer is the black basic shorts, the second layer is an extra layer in a triangle shape. This helps to create more visual effect and illustrate the theme layering. 

Frabic materials: Bomber jacket will be a matte black with a shiny coating on it. 

 

Design 5: 

This is a black dress attached with a while turtle neck t-shirt inside. This design illustrates the idea of layering. 

- I think a normal black dress is very wearable for everyday and easy to style it. Therefore I added a white turtle neck to craete the contrast between the white and black and make it more causel and suitable for everyone. Turtle necks are not only wearable in winter but also in hotter weathers as well. The black dress is very short sleeves to make it more causel and comfortable. 

 

Design 6: 

This is a long sleeves crop top with different shades of pastle colors. The bottom is a very loose and oversize maxi dress with layers of white frabics. The idea illustarted here is comfortable, pop of color and layering. 

Color choices: I choose pastle colors for the top is that because it is like a pop of color. Since the dress is already white, i think matching it with different colors will look good together and pastle is more special than other normal plain colors. 

The dress will be high waisted. The bottom layer is a plain white maxi dress, loose and comfortable. On top of it there will a lot of long shaped white frabic being layered on. This helped craete a stronger vasual effect. 

 

Mixed of pastle colors:

The idea is somewhat similar to stripes. However, it is not printed but real frabics on it. Each layer will be covered and over lapped.

1. If you had to create a similar portrait like this, who would you display on the wall and why?

- I would display someone who's influential or helped the country such as the president, big company's director..etc. In this case I would like to have Steve Jobs displayed on the wall because he's a very influential person who craeted Apple and everyone reconizge him. Also, we can remind people that Steve Jobs contributed a lot to our the technological industry and how he tried and experinment a lot of time to sucess. While being an artwork, it can also remind people about Steve Jobs's contribution and as an inspirational person. 

 

2. Where would you want to place it?

- I would want to place it in a tall building in public. This can show how important he is to the the techonology industry and more people can see it and use him as an inspiration. Since nowadays in Hong Kong it's getting very busy and people are working non-stop. Therefore i think we will need some new inspirations for people to try new things and remind them we always need to experience to sucess. Arts in public can also change the atmosphere and make it more relaxing and comfortable.

 

3. Other than black and white what color would you use? Why?

- I would use bright neon colors such as red/pink, yellow, orange and green to catch people's attention. Neon colors are the most eye-catching and it has the effect to brighten up the mood and atmosphere which it's usually used at night. By displaying neon colors artwork during daytime can make people feel fresh and inspirational. This can make a big comparsion between the black and white colors that have been used before. The colors can also show how passion and how Steve Jobs led us to the new stage of technological advancement.
