1. Many people interpreted his art to have a dark and grim atmosphere, he believed they were 'optimistic and even funny', can you try and see what she sees?
I also agree that his art has a dark and grim atmosphere. From most of his artworks I can see that he included objects such as skeletons, objects being destroyed..etc. If i have to see optimistic and funny from his artworks, i would think what makes his artwork optimistic is that he's trying to say even it is being destroyed, we should still believe that there are still hope in the future and we should stay positive. What makes it funny might from how people laugh at him and thinks his thoughts are funny since from the artworks, most of the objects are already destroyed and almost dead, people thinks that he still thinks there's hope is funny.
2. What parts of the visual makes it not seem optimistic and funny?
- The visuals that he included such as dead bodies, skeletons, scary faces..etc makes it not seem optimistic and funny. No one will feel happy/positive and funny from seeing these objects. Most of the objects will represents death, war, hopeless to people. The dark and gloomy theme helped to create the even more negative feeling, since darker colors in artworks usually represents evil, mysterious, death. We can see that he never really includes bright colors in his artworks which usually represents happiness and wisdom.
A draw a scene in his style, that he describs as 'taking a photograph of a dream.' Make it creative and detailed, start now.

This is a drawing that i did based on his style. I tried to include some negative objects such as a grave, some floating heads, faces. I also edited this picture to be more dark and gloomy.
